A Message From Our Principal

Dear SVA Community,
Welcome to Saint Vincent Academy. It is with gratitude and a strong sense of purpose that I serve as Principal of this extraordinary school. I joined the SVA community as Vice Principal in 2024 and was honored to become Principal in 2025. From the beginning, I recognized that Saint Vincent Academy is more than a school. It is a community deeply committed to the growth, education, and future of every young woman we serve.
As Newark’s only private, college preparatory high school exclusively for young women, Saint Vincent Academy holds a distinctive place in our city. Our commitment to learning, service, integrity, and leadership is reflected in our rigorous academic program, high expectations, and caring community. With the support of dedicated educators, counselors, and staff, our students are encouraged to discover their strengths, persevere through challenges, and pursue their futures with confidence and purpose.
This mission is especially meaningful to me because it reflects my own story. I grew up in Jersey City as the child of immigrant parents who came to the United States without knowing the language. Through their example, I learned the value of hard work, dedication, and resilience. Education transformed my life, opening doors and giving me the foundation to pursue opportunities that once seemed beyond reach. That experience continues to shape the educator and leader I am today.
Because I know firsthand what education can make possible, serving the young women of Saint Vincent Academy is both a privilege and a responsibility I hold close to my heart. I want every student who walks through our doors to know that her voice matters, her aspirations are worthy of pursuit, and her circumstances do not define the limits of her future.
I am grateful for the opportunity to build upon SVA’s proud legacy alongside our students, faculty, staff, families, alumnae, and supporters. Together, we will continue to inspire young women to pursue excellence, lead with integrity and compassion, and recognize the extraordinary possibilities within themselves.
To our families, thank you for entrusting us with the education and development of your daughters. It is a responsibility we hold with great care. To our students, know that we believe in you, we are proud to walk alongside you, and we are committed to helping you recognize all that you are capable of.
I invite you to explore our website and discover the people, programs, traditions, and spirit that make Saint Vincent Academy such a special place.
With gratitude,

Vanessa Moreno
