9th Grade - Required Courses
Algebra I
Algebra I introduces students to foundational algebraic concepts including variables, equations, inequalities, and functions. Emphasis is placed on problem-solving and applying algebra to real-world situations. This course prepares students for higher-level math and standardized assessments.
Health I
Health 1 provides students with essential knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their physical, mental, and social well-being. Topics include nutrition, personal fitness, mental health, substance abuse prevention, and healthy relationships. The course emphasizes responsible decision-making and promotes lifelong wellness.
Physical Education
Physical Education promotes lifelong fitness through a variety of physical activities, including team sports, individual exercises, and fitness training. Students develop motor skills, improve physical health, and learn the value of teamwork, discipline, and personal goal-setting. The course emphasizes active participation, healthy habits, and overall wellness.
Algebra II
Algebra II expands on Algebra I topics and explores advanced concepts such as quadratic functions, exponential and logarithmic equations, and complex numbers. Students develop critical thinking and modeling skills through real-world applications and mathematical analysis. This course is designed to prepare students for pre-calculus and college-level mathematics.
Religious Studies I
Religious Studies 1 introduces students to the foundational beliefs, practices, and histories of major world religions. Through discussion, reflection, and comparative study, students explore themes such as faith, ethics, and the role of religion in society. The course encourages respect, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of diverse religious traditions.
Mentoring and Academic Support
Mentoring and Academic Support provides students with structured time to receive academic help, develop study skills, and build strong habits for success. Students work with teachers and mentors to set goals, stay organized, and improve performance across their classes. The course fosters personal growth, responsibility, and confidence in a supportive learning environment.
Biology
Biology is a lab-based science course that explores the study of living organisms and their interactions with the environment. Topics include cell biology, genetics, evolution, ecology, and human body systems. Hands-on laboratory investigations reinforce scientific concepts and develop skills in observation, analysis, and experimentation.
World Language
(French or Spanish)
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of the French or Spanish language, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Students also explore cultural traditions, customs, and geography of the countries where the language is spoken. The course emphasizes communication and cultural understanding to build a strong foundation for continued language study.
Choir
This engaging choir course offers students the opportunity to develop their vocal skills while exploring a variety of musical styles, including classical, contemporary, and popular music. Through vocal exercises, group rehearsals, and performances, students will improve their technique, sight-reading abilities, and musicality. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, harmony, and performance preparation, fostering a supportive environment where students can build confidence and a love for choral music.
English I
English I focuses on developing foundational skills in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking. Students explore a variety of literary genres, including fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry, while learning to analyze texts and express ideas effectively. Emphasis is placed on grammar, vocabulary, and structured writing to prepare students for future English courses.
World Cultures
World Cultures explores the customs, beliefs, history, and geography of diverse societies around the globe. Students examine how culture shapes identity, influences global interactions, and contributes to today’s interconnected world. The course encourages critical thinking, cultural awareness, and respect for global diversity.

Introductory courses in art, current events, music, media, career exploration, college planning and selected math topics, as well as a broad array of elective courses, round out the curriculum and foster the individual interests and talents of our young women. We offer many honors courses for eligible students, as well as opportunities to simultaneously earn college credit for a nominal tuition charge.
